Dongyan’s ‘You to Me are Everything’ Hits P98 Million in 3 Weeks

Ding Dong Dantes, Marian Rivera, You to Me are Everything,
The Regal Films and GMA Films co-production “You to Me are Everything” is now P2 million short
to cross the P100 million box office status!

The Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera romantic comedy has raked-in a total of P98,056,256.70 in it’s 3rd week of screening in theaters. It will only need P2 million on its 4th week to be the second Pinoy movie after “Miss You Like Crazy” to surpass the P100 million mark.

But since the film is already on it’s 4th week as of this post, then it is perhaps safe to assume that “You to Me are Everything” has already earned more than P100 million. We’ll just wait for the official report from 3rd party tabulator Box Office Mojo.

Topping the local box office chart for the weekend of May 19 to 23, 2010 is the animated film “Shrek Goes Fourth” with P59.38 million.

Following in second position is the Star Cinema comedy “Here Comes the Bride” with P32.24 million. The Eugene Domingo-Angelica Panganiban starrer has already grossed P84.44 million in two weeks.

Running in 3rd is Robin Hood while Iron Man 2 occupied the 4th position.

‘Kimmy Dora’ Earns P70M+, ‘Yaya and Angelina’ Rakes P6M on First Day

Two local comedy films are delivering smiles at the box-office.

The cast, crew and producers of Kimmy Dora: Kambal sa Kyeme held a thanksgiving party last September 22 for the success of their movie topbilled by Eugene Domingo. According to reports, the film hits P70 million on its 3rd week.

Spring Films, comprised by Joyce Bernal, Shayne Sarte, Eric Raymundo, and Piolo Pascual spent P20 million in producing the film. Now, it has surpassed the P70 million mark and still showing in selected theaters. This means profit for the producers and a possible sequel.

On the other hand, GMA Films and APT Entertainment are happy with the report that Yaya and Angelina: The Spoiled Brat Movie has earned P6 million on its first day. And when they say P6 million, it’s their way of saying “walang padding.” Nevertheless, the characters as popularized by Michael V. and Ogie Alcasid are also doing well at the box-office.

Dingdong-Marian VS Bea-John Lloyd in Valentines 2010

Network war is happening once again in the season of the hearts come 2010 with a Dingdong-Marian starrer from GMA and John Lloyd-Bea starrer from Star Cinema.

The network war during Valentines season started in 2005 when GMA Films released “Let the Love Begin” starring Richard Gutierrez and Angel Locsin, and Star Cinema released “Dreamboy” starring Piolo Pascual and Bea Alonzo. It happened every year since then.

In 2008, the rival networks did not share the same playdate. GMA Films and Regal’s “My Bestfriend’s Girlfriend” starring Marian Rivera and Richard Gutierrez was shown in the earlier part of February. Star Cinema’s “My Big Love” starring Toni Gonzaga and Sam Milby occupied the later part of February.

The drill continued in the Valentines season this year when GMA Films/Regal released “When I Met U” starring Richard Gutierrez and KC Concepcion. It was shown on the earlier part of February while Star Cinema released in the latter part of the same month, the box-office smash hit “You Changed My Life” starring Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz.

In 2010, the king of Valentine movies Richard Gutierrez was supposed to have another offering with “Maybe This Time” reuniting him with former girlfriend Anne Curtis. But GMA seems to have another plan. Dingdong Dantes told the media that he and Marian Rivera is doing a romantic movie set for Valentines 2010.

Star Cinema, on the other hand, is also doing a romantic film for Valentines season. Box-office king John Lloyd Cruz will be reunited with Bea Alonzo in the said film.

If plans push through, this could be the scenario come February 2010. So which team are you in?

Kimmy Dora Gets an ‘A’ Grade from CEB

Getting an “A” from the Cinema Evaluation Board these days is like buying a soda from the nearest sari-sari store, it’s easy. But Kimmy Dora is a film that truly deserves it.

Some films get an “A” from CEB and a thumbs down from the critics. Some films get an “A” from CEB, thumbs up from the critics but ended up “flop” at the box-office.

This time, an indie film with a commercial format like Kimmy Dora, which got an “A” from the CEB and a “thumbs up” from the critics, could potentially be a box-office hit.

From the success of its premiere night at SM Megamall last Tuesday, Kimmy Dora is posed to be the kind of film to conquer all – critics, the government incentive program and the movie-goers. It just need to surpass the P100 million mark and a sequel could not be far behind.

This makes Eugene Domingo as the next big comedy star! Her talent in making people laugh shines throughout the film. Furthermore, she is now being labeled as the “Diamond Comedy Queen”!

Kimmy Dora is now showing in more than 100 theaters nationwide INCLUDING SM Cinemas.

“…it’s a far better comedy than the mainstream establishment has produced in a long time,” Philbert Dy (Click the City)

GMA Films: DAGAW ( Starring Richard Gutierrez,Jewel Mische, and Marvin Agustin)

Richard Gutierrez and Dingdong Dantes to co-star in a horror flick
Allan Diones

According to Richard, isang horror movie ang gagawin nila ni Dingdong to be directed by multi-awarded director Chito Roño.

"I'm excited!" bulalas ni Richard. "Siyempre, Chito Roño ‘yon, di ba? Wow! Kumbaga, he's like a living legend," papuri niya sa direktor ng blockbuster horror flicks like Feng Shui and Sukob.

Excited din si Richard that he'll be working for the first time with Dingdong. Naalala niya na may short fight scenes sila together in Mulawin The Movie (2005) wherein nag-merge ang story ng Mulawin at Encantadia na parehong hit fantasy series ng GMA-7.

Dingdong was part of Encantadia as the warrior king Ybarro/Ybrahim while Richard was the main star of Mulawin as the winged hero Aguiluz.

Wala pa ring definite date as to when they would start the movie, pero ngayon pa lang ay looking forward na rito si Richard.

Unang narinig ng PEP ang naturang project from Dingdong, who mentioned in his solo press con for the movie Angels recently na may nilulutong pelikula ang GMA Films for him and Richard.

Wala pa ring mai-share na detalye that time si Dingdong, ang nabanggit niya lang ay it's gonna be a horror flick with Chito as director.

ANGEL LOCSIN.

"Na-touch kaming lahat na kami ‘yung last stop niya before she left. Nakakatuwa lang na dumaan si Angel at nagpaalam sa amin.

"But it was really just a light moment. It wasn't like a formal goodbye or whatever. Light lang, kuwentuhan lang, catch up on things, ganu'n lang," paglilinaw niya.

Na-miss daw ba siya ni Angel kaya siya dinalaw nito sa set?

"Ayoko namang sabihin ‘yon, di ba?" tawa niya. "Actually, hindi lang naman siya sa akin nagpaalam. It was more like for everyone... To my director in Lupin, si Direk Mike [Tuviera], close din kasi si Angel kay Direk Mike and to our executive producer. So, it was more for everyone. I don't wanna take the credit for it."

Kasunod nito ay itinanggi rin ni Richard ang isyung may movie project na ino-offer sa kanya si Angel for her own film company Eagle Eye Productions. They didn't talk daw anything about work at talagang light lang ang naging pag-uusap nila.

LUPIN. By the way, tonight ang start ng lipat-timeslot ng Lupin, na mapapanood na pagkatapos ng Mga Mata ni Anghelita sa GMA Telebabad, taking over the former timeslot of Impostora.

Paliwanag ng star ng Lupin, "It has nothing to do with the ratings. We're doing good and we're very happy with our timeslot.

"Actually, ‘yung timeslot ng Lupin na late night, first time na it became number one for a long time. So, we're very happy with it, pero meron kaming mga concerns. According to studies and surveys kasi, ni-launch ang Lupin, summer break. So, the kids were able to watch it all the time.

"Pero ngayon, may pasok na sila sa school kaya masyado nang late para sa mga bata. Pati mismo ‘yung mga kakilala ko, minsan tulog na o minsan ayaw na nilang payagan ‘yung mga anak nila na manood.

"At saka kung medyo adult at sexy dati ‘yung show namin, ngayon, gagawin naming more for kids. It's surprising nga, kasi ang crowd ng Lupin, e, for all ages.

"May matanda, may bata, may lalake, may babae. It's for everyone. So, susubukan ng GMA kung mas magiging effective kami sa timeslot na ‘yon and I believe it's gonna be effective," confident na pahayag ni Richard.

Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes - One True Love

The chemistry of Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera will be put to a test on the big screen via GMA Films and Regal Entertainment's One True Love. It will open in cinemas nationwide starting November 19.

Working together in a movie offers a different kind of experience for Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera. After appearing together in GMA-7's primetime shows, Marimar and Dyesebel, both of them expressed excitement and anxiety over the fact that they're working together in a different medium.

For their first movie project as a love team, Dingdong and Marian will assume mature roles unseen in their past primetime soaps. Iza Calzado also joins the love team in One True Love, which is produced by GMA Films and Regal Entertainment.
In an interview with PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) last October 28, Director Mac Alejandre said that the two lead stars are playing "more matured roles in a realistic setting."

SYNOPSIS
In the film, Dingdong plays Migs, a young man who is in a long-term relationship with Iza Calzado's character named Bela. The relationship was put to the test when Bela and her family decided to go abroad, leaving the two lovers with no choice but to settle for a long distance affair. The couple struggle to keep their long distance relationship but they eventually decide to go their separate ways.

Migs then meets a pretty nurse named Joy, portrayed by Marian Rivera. Smitten and confused, Migs fell in love with Joy and immediately offers marriage, leaving Bela and their relationship behind.

Bela, determined to fight for her love, quickly returns to the Philippines with the intention of winning back her former boyfriend. This situation forces Migs to painfully contemplate whether to return to Bela or move on with his new life with Joy.

Who will be the one true love of Migs: his first love Bela (Iza) or his current flame Joy (Marian)?

IS IT TRUE LOVE? "The film poses several questions," explains Direk Mac. "Some questions are answered, some questions may not be answered. But some of the questions, ang true love ba ay ‘yong pag-ibig na ipinaglalaban o ‘yong pag-ibig na nagpaparaya? Kasi minsan ang pag-ibig na nagpaparaya ang pinaka-epektibong paraan ng pakikipaglaban, ‘yon ‘yong isa sa mga tanong. Ikalawa, ang love ba ay nagsisimula sa at nagwawakas sa damdamin o nagwawakas sa isang desisyon? That was another question posed. Number three, ‘pag ikaw ay nagmamahal, hindi sa lahat ng pagkakataon nagtutugma ang utak at puso, ‘pag nangyari ‘yon ano ang nararapat mong sundin?"

He further added: "Given the situations of the character they play, these three people are put into a situation where they have to answer through actions these questions and, more often than not, the result is not as joyful as expected."

One True Love aims to present all the extreme emotions involved in falling in love, including pain and happiness—elements that were vividly touched in the film.

GOING DARING. In an separate interview, Marian said that One True Love is her most daring roles so far due to the love scenes required from her and Dingdong.

"Sa Dyesebel kasi kiss lang kami, dito kasi may mga atake na ginagawa si direk Mac [Alejandre] na ginawa namin pero dahil sa mga camera niya, kung paano niya iikot so mag-iiba talaga sa paningin ng tao. Instead kasi na focus agad sa mukha, kunwari balikat muna. So, ginawa niyang mas kapanapanabik siya at mas kaayaaya siyang panoorin na parang hindi bastos pero wow! Parang nakaka-in love," explained the young actress.

Direk Mac commended Dingdong, Marian and Iza for their cooperation and professionalis m especially when it comes to the intimate scenes. "Walang ilangan," he proudly stated, "absolutely wala. And I think because they were well trained for that."

The film was entirely shot here in Metro Manila. Direk Mac stressed that the project's main strength is the story itself and that the film aims to focus on this concept as envisioned by its writers.

"I think it's the formulation of the story and the magic of the actors that created the visual delight of the film," he stated.

Watch Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera, and Iza Calzado in a dramatic love triangle in One True Love, which opens in cinemas on November 19.
