“Miss You Like Crazy” Earns P18 Million on First Day at Box Office
The John Lloyd Cruz-Bea Alonzo starrer, Miss You Like Crazy, opened in more than 100 theaters nationwide Wednesday with a bang, earning at least (and approximately) P18 million in the box office according to a source inside Star Cinema — the producer of the film. Last Tuesday, the Cathy Garcia-Molina-helmed rom-com premiered in two locations to overflowing crowds and screaming fans: one in Trinoma and the other one at the Megamall.
The movie is John Lloyd and Bea’s first team-up in three years, making Miss You Like Crazy a reunion project of sorts for the popular tandem.
Di pwedeng ma-predict kung gaano kalaki ang kikitain ng pelikula kung pagbabasehan lang ang first day of box office results nito. It can be recalled that the last Star Cinema movie starring Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson had a solid opening of P12 na tumugma naman sa first week of grosses released by BOM na P41.4 million. Kaya lang after its first week, di na masyadong lumaki pa ang earning nito. In fact sa pangatlong linggo ng pelikula in theaters, nag-gross lang ito ng P77.5 million in total. Kaya di talaga ma-predict if the movie will end up with less than 75 million, 100 million or greater than 150 million. Only time will tell, ika nga kung paano mag-play ang “Miss You Like Crazy” sa mga manonood at sa publikong tatangkilik nito.
Note: AccessPinoy cannot indepently verify the data provided by Star Cinema until the official results are published by Box Office Mojo in two to three weeks time.

Nora Aunor is Nominated for 10 Best Asian Actresses of the Decade
The country’s Superstar, Nora Aunor, is shortlisted for the 10 Best Asian Actresses of the Decade category of the 2010 Green Globe Film Awards.
Ate Guy is vying for a slot in the Top 10 against a number of actresses across Asia, mostly from China, Japan and Korea. From the shortlisted nominees in 37 categories, she was the only Filipino who made it to the list.
Aside from the 10 Best Asian Actresses of the Decade, there are other award categories in the 2010 Green Globe that celebrate the Asian entertainment scene like Best Asian Film of the Decade, Asian Cultural Ambassador of the Decade, Best International Entertainer from Asia, Best International Actor/Actress from Asia, Best International Film from Asia, etc.
The above-mentioned categories will be voted by the public via an online poll at www.movie-voters.com and it will run until March 5, 2010.
Considered as one of Hollywood’s largest film award programs, the Green Globe Film Awards will culminate on March 23, 2010. 100 Viewers’ Choice Awards being selected by film lovers, critics and movie viewers from around the world will be announced.
You can help Nora Aunor be included in the 10 Best Asian Actresses of the Decade by voting for her and up to 9 other nominees at www.movie-voters.com.
And here’s more. The shortlisted names were not final nominees as the site visitor can still input one name under the choice “Other” if your favorite is not in the list. So we can still nominate other “kababayan” in the Asian Film category.
Here are my suggestions…

‘Walang Hanggang Paalam’ Wins Best Film in 1st SoHo International Film Fest in NYC
“Walang Hanggang Paalam” took home the top plum in the 1st SoHo International Film Festival NYC 2010 last February 21.
Directed by the tandem of Paolo Villaluna and Ellen Ramos, “Walang Hanggang Paalam” (English title: Endless) bested 11 other films in competition including “A Kiss of Chaos” (USA), “Just Like Joe” (USA), “Non Con Un Bang” (Italy), and 2 other Philippine entries – Gil Portes’ “Pitik Bulag” and Dale Adriatico’s “The Pastor’s Kid”. The movie is the last of a trilogy on hapless relationships. Villaluna and Ramos previously produced “Ilusyon” in 2006, and “Selda” in 2008.
“Walang Hanggang Paalam” is a story of four individuals who, in the course of seeking love, discover themselves and their fate. Villaluna and Ramos are known for their classic style and restrained attack on a movie’s narrative. The movie features Lovie Poe, Joem Bascon, Jake Roxas and Jackie Woo. Forward Group Japan produced the movie (CLICK HERE TO WATCH THE TRAILER OF “Walang Hanggang Paalam”).
Held from February 18 to 21, SIFF was designed “to celebrate the cutting-edge of digital technology while honoring traditional forms of storytelling,” say founder Jorge Ballos on its official site.

“Mana Po” Starring Melai, Pokwang, Mommy D and Kiray, Kakaaliw!
Posted by antoine on February 22, 2010
Kung katulad n’yo kami, babad kami lagi sa Facebook, either through our mobile laptop or iPhone.
While the movie is not real at walang plano ang Star Cinema or anumang film outfit to produce it, mukhang maganda nga naman na pagsamahin ang apat sa iisang pelikula.

“Paano Na Kaya?” Losses Steam, Box Office Cume to Date Only P77.5 M
Posted by antoine on February 23, 2010
Mukhang di na aabot sa projected na P100M to P120M box office gross ang Star Cinema movie, its very first offering for 2010, — ang “Paano Na Kaya.” Sa third week nito in theaters, according to the recent results published by Box Office Mojo, nakakuha lamang ang Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson starrer ng P77.5 million. And since magbubukas na soon ang panibagong pelikula ng Star Cinema, the John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo reunion movie titled “Miss You Like Crazy,” malabo nang i-extend pa ang PNK.

“Hating Kapatid” – The Making of a Would-Be Blockbuster Film
The people behind Viva Films, the outfit producing the Judy Ann Santos and Sarah Geronimo starrer tentatively titled “Hating Kapatid,” is in full throttle promoting the film, making sure it becomes a major success. Hating Kapatid has the makings of a would-be blockbuster film, and if it becomes a certified one, it will be Sarah’s third consecutive blockbuster movie in a row — a feat only a few Pinoy actor/actress ever achieved. And with Judy Ann in tow, sigurado na ang pagtabo nito sa takilya. Ang hihintayin nalang natin ay kung ilang milyon ang kikitain nito sa box office, at kung gagawa ba ito ng kasaysayan as one of the top Pinoy movies of all time.
Here’s the release that AccessPinoy got from Viva about “Hating Kapatid:”
This early, the local moviedom is celebrating already because of the much-awaited major movie project under Viva Films starring Judy Ann Santos and Sarah Geronimo.
Viva big boss Vic del Rosario is proud of the movie. He said, This is the first time that Juday and Sarah will be seen in a movie. That is a casting coup in itself. But other than the two of them, we also enlisted veteran actress Gina PareƱo and Luis Manzano to join the cast. This is big.
The Viva producer also made sure that the movie will have the most excellent production values. Films also tapped the tried-and-tested tandem of Wenn Deramas and Mel Mendoza-del Rosario to direct and write the film, respectively. The biggest movie the two have worked on was the groundbreaking Ang Tanging Ina and its sequel starring Ai-Ai delas Alas.
The Judy Ann-Sarah movie, working title is Hating Kapatid, tells the story of sisters Rica and Cecilia who love each other so much that they are willing to sacrifice even their personal happiness to stay together.
The romance-comedy will make viewers laugh, cry, think, wish to fall and stay in love and realize that family members should be friends, too. Judy Ann and Sarah will showcase their outstanding comedic talents and their ability to make people cry.
But the Judy Ann-Sarah ticket is not the only tandem that people await in their movie. For the first time, Luis will play Sarah’s love interest. Also in the cast is Vice Ganda.
Judy Ann and Sarah bring to the table an unrivaled record of achievements in their respective careers that have made them the biggest stars of their generations.
Judy Ann is an award-winning and multi-nominated film and television actress. Since entering showbiz in 1986, she has appeared in more than 70 blockbuster movies with 12 Best Actress awards. Judy Ann stars on ABS-CBN’s Habang May Buhay.
Sarah, on the other hand, has been acknowledged both by the public and her peers as heir-apparent to concert and recording royalties what with hits and shows. She also has blockbusters You Changed My Life and A Very Special Love with John Lloyd Cruz.

Enchong Dee and Erich Gonzales Movie, Susunod Na!
Sa mga fans nina Enchong Dee and Erich Gonzales (EnRich), this piece of info is for you. At expected na sa kasalukuyang taon ito maipapalabas, possibly during the second half of 2010. Magiging successful kaya ang EnRich tandem sa kanilang pag-crossover on the big screen on their first movie team-up?
Heto ang ilang comments from Twitter congratulating Enchong’s performance on MMK:
