“Tween Academy: Class of 2012″ opens today in theaters nationwide with a “B” rating from the Cinema Evaluation Board. Sequel in the works!
A co-production of GMA Films and SMDC, “Tween Academy: Class of 2012,” got a “B” rating from the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB) which means the movie is eligible for 35% discount in amusement tax!
Directed by Mark Reyes, the movie follows an entirely different storyline from the hit TV series “Tween Hearts” and features a new set of characters, each with a unique story to bring.
The movie stars GMA Tweens Barbie Forteza, Joshua Dionisio, Jake Vargas, Bea Binene, Lexi Fernandez, Louise delos Reyes, Alden Richards, Kristoffer Martin, Joyce Ching and Derrick Monasterio. Also in the cast is Elmo Magalona with the special participations of Julie Anne San Jose and Sam Pinto.
With the success of the TV series and now the movie, based from the successful premiere night last week, a sequel for “Tween Academy” is now in the works! And part 2 will be a musical ala Glee.
This is perhaps the reason why during the press conference of the movie, Derrick Monasterio and Kristoffer Martin rendered a song number, to give the press a taste of what’s going to happen in the sequel.
According to reports, “Tween Academy” the Musical will start filming this November and will have a play date on Black Saturday next year.
