“Babe I Love You” Only Made P16.5M on First Week of Showing

The box office returns of Star Cinema and Viva Entertainment’s co-production, the Sam Milby and Anne Curtis feature “Babe I Love You” grossed a measly and below average cume of P16.5 million on its first week of showing. Comparing to the two previous movies produced and released by Star Cinema for 2010 — Paano Na Kaya? starring Gerald Anderson and Kim Chiu, and Miss You Like Crazy starring John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo — the results of Babe I Love You is weak. Blame it on Clash of the Titans, we guessed, because the Sam Worthington Greek epic movie pitting gods and demigods earned a whopping P47.3 million over the same weekend.

Bea Alonzo & Lorna Tolentino Starrer “Sa ‘Yo Lamang” Begins Filming

It looks like the Star Cinema movie starring Bea Alonzo and Lorna Tolentino with a working title of Sa ‘Yo Lamang is on a fast-track. Gusto yata nilang tapusin agad ang pelikula at ipalabas na sa mga sinehan. Ganyan kalaki ng tiwala ng Star Cinema sa Silverscreen Sweetheart ng Pinoy movies, who starred last month with John Lloyd Cruz sa Miss You Like Crazy. In fact, it was the Kapamilya star who confirmed that she and veteran actress LT will begin shooting on April 19 for a possible showing later this year.
“Sa ‘Yo Lamang” will be directed by acclaimed director Laurice Guillen who was also behind the success of movie “Tanging Yaman”.
The project also features independent film prince Coco Martin, and love team Enchong Dee and Erich Gonzales.
“I’m really really excited kasi sila yung nagturo sa akin na umarte so ngayon di ko alam kung kailangan kong magpa-impress but I’m sure talagang matututo ako,” Bea said in an interview.
In a separate interview, multi-awarded actress Lorna expressed her excitement on working with Bea again, whom she always referred to as one of the best actress in her generation.
“Nagulat ako nung napanood ko, na-excite din ako kasi now I know that its Bea kasi ang tagal na nung last naming trabaho together,” Lorna said.
“Habang nanonood ako sa lahat ng soap at movies nya, parang ang laki laki na talaga ng growth nya as an actress so I’m really excited to work with her again ngayong dalaga na sya,” she added.
The veteran actress also said their upcoming project is a must-see movie as the story will be like the critically acclaimed film “Tanging Yaman.”
Bea and Lorna worked together 13 years 7 years ago via the hit soap opera “Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay,” which lasted for two years in ABS-CBN.
