Kris Aquino Teams Up with Dingdong Dantes in Horror Flick ‘Segunda Mano’

Kris Aquino has another horror movie this year pairing her with Kapuso leading man Dingdong Dantes.

The Kris-Dingdong movie has a working title “Segunda Mano” and it’s an official entry to the 2011 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

So how did it become possible for Kris Aquino and Dingdong Dantes to star in one movie since they’re from rival networks?

Kris said Dingdong went to Atty. Gozon to ask for permission to do a project with Star Cinema. GMA Films agreed in exchange for her to do a movie with them in 2012.

“So, ang hiningi lang nila was that I sign a contract that will state na I’ll do a movie with GMA for 2012,” she added.

The horror movie which is under MJM Productions will also star Angelica Panganiban and will be directed by Bb. Joyce Bernal.

The record-breaking team up of Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz returns on the big screen.

After the astounding success of their films A Very Special Love and You Changed My Life which earned for them the country’s Box-office King and Queen two consecutive years, John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo are set to reunite in the upcoming movie with the working title “It Takes A Man and A Woman.”

“Oo, excited ako diyan kasi alam ko pong maraming mga supporters na naghihintay na makita kami ulit na magkatrabaho. Pero wala pa po akong naririnig na confirmation from my manager and Star Cinema. Basta ipagpre-pray natin kung ano ma yung will ni God, kung matuloy man yung project,” Sarah revealed.

The news about the Sarah-Lloydie reunion movie came out during the Star Cinema trade launch last June 16. The film outfit of ABS-CBN revealed that a third movie starring Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz has been green-lighted.

Just like in their first two films, “It Takes A Man and A Woman” is going to be directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina. And rumor has it that the movie will also star Gerald Anderson, Sarah’s love interest in the 2011 hit romantic-movie “Catch Me, I’m In Love.”

‘Forever and a Day’ Earns P23.27 Million in First 5 Days

Star Cinema’s “Forever and a Day” starring Sam Milby and KC Concepcion had an opening weekend gross of P23.27 million at the box-office.

The Superhero movie Green Lantern topped Philippine box-office for the opening weekend of June 15 to 19 with a haul of P72 million, according to Box Office Mojo. And from the period of up to June 20 including the extended holiday for Jose Rizal’s 150th birth anniversary, the Ryan Reynolds-starrer accumulated P85.66 million, this one according to Warner Bros. Philippines.

The figure has now become the holder of the year’s biggest opening weekend for a Warner title surpassing “Red Riding Hood” and “Sucker Punch”, and the second-biggest of 2011 industry-wide outgrossing “X-Men: First Class,” “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” and “Thor”.

Placing second, on the other hand, is local romantic drama “Forever and a Day” with P23.27 million box-office gross in its first 5 days. This is really tough for the Sam Milby-KC Concepcion starrer because their film is vying against 7 Hollywood summer movies and getting the no. 2 spot is already commendable.

Meanwhile, “X-Men: First Class” settled for no. 3 after topping Philippine box-office for 2 weeks in a row. “Super 8″ is at no.4 while “Mr. Popper’s Penguins” starring Jim Carrey debuted at no. 5.
